My name is Randy Huenergardt. I have had a passion and love of training labs since I got my first lab over 28 years ago. His name was Bear. I got real lucky because I made the mistake I tell everyone not to do, and that is, I got him from a backyard breeder. Even with that mistake, he got me hooked on running field trials and then running the AKC Hunt Tests.

I was living in Oregon and joined the Oregon Retriever Trial Club. Then with some help from people like my brother Dennis and John Poer, and some other long time field trialers, they got me started on the right path. My dog Bear and I became the first to get an AKC Master Hunt title from our Oregon Retreiver Trail Club. It was then that people started bringing their dogs to me to train. Right then I knew what I wanted to do the rest of my life.

I moved to Montana about 18 years ago and joined the Western Montana Retriever Club. Then, about 8 years ago we opened up our boarding kennel, The Bitterroot Pet Palace in Stevensville, Montana. I was working at my plumbing warehouse job, training my dogs, training other peoples' dogs and working at our boarding kennel. Then about five years ago I decided to quit my plumbing job to finally do what I love to do, that is, train the best breed hunting dog there is, "the lab".
